Beloved

In the early eighties we spent two summer vacations at the Loire, in the former home of the painter Jacques Aubrun.

In the dusty atelier with the large windows, a ping pong table stood between dozens, maybe hundreds of paintings. We had to fetch the balls from behind the frames.

As a souvenir my parents bought a few drawings and one of them is hanging in our living room. It reminds me of Vincent van Gogh, and of those summer vacations in which we children, inspired by Jacques Aubrun, felt as artists to be.

This memory is my contribution to this week’s WordPress photo challenge: Beloved.
